TWENTYTWO is one long table of twenty-two, held in daylight over coffee. It is the widest aperture in the house and the first room most people enter: culture leads the conversation, commerce is never the reason for the invitation, and a stranger leaves as a known face.
Twenty-two is not a capacity. It is the largest number at which a single conversation can still be held by one room.
